Blekko is a relatively new search engine that goes about producing results in a new way. It was created out of the premise that Google results are becoming cluttered. Blekko solves this problem by allowing you to search only within a designated set of websites.
These websites are created either by Blekko or users and are catalogued in what Blekko calls "slashtags."
You never know if a new search engine has the power to stand up to the dominance of Google. I'm not confident Blekko will be able to become a true competitor of Google simply because its system is not as easy as typing a couple of words into a search bar.
But that doesn't mean there's no place for Blekko. As an advanced searcher, being able to filter results based on a subset of websites has real advantages.
If Blekko can make "slashing the Web" as easy as using Google, then I think it has a shot at being a serious player.
From a marketing perspective, you probably should spend a little time understanding how slashtags are being used in your industry. If Blekko gains market share, you don't want to come late to the game. You could easily be slashed out of the entire conversation.
